Founded in 1988, the Westport Consulting Group is a financial services marketing consulting specialist. The firm helps banks, insurance companies, brokerages, credit card organizations, mortgage providers, investment managers, private banks and healthcare organizations bring new products and services to market, reshape existing products and build business units. Separate Westport units advise clients in the area of strategic marketing communications and the design and development of PC-based database solutions. In addition, Westport Consulting sponsors a bi-annual syndicated research study for global banking concerns in the area of electronic banking and treasury management.

The clients of Westport Consulting Group include many of the largest global financial service companies as well as many domestic mid-sized and specialty financial institutions. Assignments have covered a broad range of financial services categories and have been regional, national, and global in scope. Westport Consulting Group (WCG) develops quantifiably measurable marketing plans — from concept to positioning up to implementation — using proven methodology and based upon its knowledge of the financial services sector and the customers and consumers it serves. Past assignments are roughly equal between business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing activities.

The Town of Westport

Westport, Connecticut, a coastal town of 26,000, is sited where the Saugatuck River meets Long Island Sound. Various Native American tribes frequented the area for nearly 6,000 years. Colonists settled here in 1648 and a community of wharves, warehouses, stores and a tavern soon centered on the east side of the river. The Revolutionary War touched the town several times and after the war, the town became a significant shipping center. The Town was chartered in 1835. Today, Westport is considered a suburb of New York City, but one that has clearly retained its New England roots. Several important consulting, communications and research firms have found it an ideal place for their businesses.
